PROCESS MARKET: CHEMICALS

Most chemical manufacturing facilities are loaded with varying types of fluid pumps for applications from metering of various reactants into a process, to high-volume transfer of raw materials such as acids or caustics, or for delivery of high-temperature heat transfer fluids to maintain process temperatures in a system. While virtually every pump Ober-Read offers could find a way into a chemical plant, below are some of the more unique solutions we offer for the broad Chem Process world.

PLASTIC MAGNETICALLY COUPLED PUMPS WITH DRY-RUN CAPABILITY

Iwaki America M Series process pumps are an ideal fit for medium and heavy duty chemical transfer applications. Pumps are either Polypropylene or Teflon wetted materials, with carbon, high-purity ceramic or silicon carbide shafts and bearings. Unlike most magnetically-coupled pumps, the Iwaki M Series can be selected with materials that can survive an unexpected dry-run situation for an extended period.  The smaller MX series pumps are solid plastic construction, while MDM and MXM series are iron body with Polypropylene or Teflon inner lining.

SLURRY CAPABLE DIAPHRAGM PUMPS

Wanner HydraCell diaphragm pumps offer seal-less delivery of corrosive fluids, at pressures as high as 2500 psi. Most models are offered with polypropylene and Kynar bodies as well as several metallic options. The patented HydraCell high-speed/low-mass check valve on these pumps, when fitted with the proper hardened valve, spring and seat materials, is an ideal choice for handling tough slurry transfer. 5-20% Lime Slurry, abrasive catalyst slurry, clay slurries for ceramics, carbide and glass slurries for spray drying, and many others have been handled successfully by HydraCell Slurry-Duty pumps.

HIGH VISCOSITY DRUM TRANSFER PUMPS

Flux ViscoFLUX pumps are the world leader for drum unloading of thick greases, paint binders, coating compounds, adhesives, glues and gels.  These drum pumps can also be mounted horizontally to serve as baseplate mounted pumps for out-of-drum applications.

FLUX also has developed a unique drum unloading system for thick fluids that completely removes all of the product from the drum, avoiding costly waste, and minimizing drum cleanup after use.

HOT OIL TRANSFER PUMPS

Speck Hot Oil pumps are robust magnetically-coupled regenerative turbine pumps capable of fluid temperatures up to 650 deg F. This extreme temperature range opens these pumps up to handling most heat transfer fluids that are used for chemical process applications such as heat tracing a reactor tank. TOE Series Speck pumps are an economical and reliable option for extreme temperature applications.
